“Keep Your Body Close To Me”

Creating art, making music, over the last two years has been challenging, even more than normal. Or at least, at first, sitting down and writing a song during the apocalypse was daunting. But, once I understood the apocalypse is just a dramatic name we have given to “CHANGE” then the act of writing a song and writing down words was comforting. This song and others to follow are from the perspective of a father, husband, and a human writing about the view, looking towards the horizon, at the end of the world. As Octavia Butler told us years before, the only constant thing is CHANGE. Yes, I’m angry because I’m scared and sad. The END is inevitable, but what do we do after the end, after the world we have known is gone. I welcome CHANGE, I celebrate this change, the end, with song. Keep your body close to your loved ones, accept them as they change, hold each other as you watch the world change.
